Forest Spirit?

So, you're sitting there with seventeen rainbows worth of colorful paint, a slew of fun clothes and accessories, a willing model, and a creative painter who's eyes are bulging with the possibilities: I dare you to not have fun.

M. got all kinds of made up and we headed to the grassy fields nearby to make some pictures happen. Always pleasure working with M., and Laura from Jacana Parties keeps things...colorful. More to come.

Grey Crowned Crane

I sure do appreciate Laura from Jacana Parties--she's a creative with a penchant for painting her expressions on other people. We've worked together before, and we always seem to turn out some interesting images. Today was no exception, and K. was good enough to allow us to transform her into a crowned crane. M. also came, and pictures form her transformation will be coming soon.

Super Moon

Nikon D800, 50mm f/1.4mm lens, f/11, 25s, ISO 100.
I was teaching other photographers in Seattle the other day and it happened to be when the Super Moon was still on. We headed out together after my presentation to search out some cityscapes, when we realized the moon hadn't risen yet. We picked up our tripods and boogied as quick as we could to Kerry Park--that's where the really iconic images of Seattle are made from. The Space Needle is looking pretty slick in it's fresh coat of Orange paint. Yep: Orange.

Here's the thing: the space needle isn't really that tall! it's a couple miles closer to my camera and on a hill that makes it look so high above the rest of the town's buildings. Smoke and mirrors and camera tricks. Click on the image for a larger view.

Self Portrait

Close course with professional drivers, do not try this at home. I can tell you, those sparks are hot! That's me getting showered in the image above, and my friend, Mike, in the one below. We did this with the Cache Valley Photographers last week. Always fun with that group.

Always a Pleasure

It's always fun making pictures with L. She's just fun to hang out with--plus, she's made herself available as a model for my classes more than once. I sure do appreciate her help!

RMNP

Whew! I'm traveling to various Smugmug User Groups this week and teaching other photographers. Started at the Vernal SMUG, and drove to the Denver North SMUG to teach this morning. Well, yesterday we made a few stops on the way through the hills. This is in Rocky Mountain National Park, and it's a picture I'd like to make again and very some things. But, man I love high altitude skies!
