Another World

I just had to post these. I thought at first that I was making pictures of flowers, but as I added more and more magnification to the lens, I started seeing more color and, of course, detail. The prismatic reflections on these wild irises were like a disco colored carpet for the micro insects living there. And the reds of the poppy were just...popping. Straight from the camera, no effects applied.

Nikon D90, 50mm lens with macro extension tubes, f/7.1, 1/800s, ISO 200 on the iris, and f/7.1, 1/200s, ISO 200 for the poppy.

  1. Beautiful and original! Lighting is great. It would be interesting to see if a square or vertical crop of the top picture works too.
